The numbers, set out properly
Price each item, or the whole job
Choose on each quote. Break the work down with a quantity and price on every line, or describe the work and give one figure. A section can carry a single price too.
VAT with one switch
VAT registered? Turn it on in your business details and set your rate. It starts at 20%. Not registered? Leave it off and VAT never appears.

Questions
Can QuoteMate add VAT to my quotes?
Yes. Turn VAT on in your business details and set your rate. Every quote then shows the subtotal, the VAT and the total, with your VAT number if you have added it.
I'm not VAT registered. What do I do?
Leave VAT switched off. Your quotes show your prices and a total, with no VAT line.
Can I use a rate other than 20%?
Yes. You set the rate in your business details. One rate applies to the whole quote, so a job with a mix of rates needs a quote for each.
Can I show labour and materials separately?
Yes. Give each its own line, or its own section, with its own price.
Can I give one price instead of a breakdown?
Yes. Switch the quote to Price the whole job. The customer sees what is included and one figure.
How do I ask for a deposit?
Write it in the payment terms, for example "25% deposit to order materials, balance on completion". QuoteMate shows your terms on the quote. It doesn't take payments.
